“Paris at mid Century”
"Nature Morte avec Poisson" by Georges Braque, ca.1948
Oil on canvas, 21 x 25 inches (framed)
Opening a window on the past, the gallery proudly presents several original paintings and watercolors on canvas and board that have never before been publicly exhibited. These rare gems created by the giants of Modernism (Picasso, Braque, Miró) come from the private collection of an American symphony conductor who performed for and befriended the artists while living and traveling in Europe from the early part of the century into the mid 1960s. Often he was requested to gather a few musicians and play for parties of dignitaries and artists and he received art works in return.
All of these works are original and unique and come with a certificate of authenticity. Now part of the original owner’s estate, a portion of this wonderful collection is being unveiled at this exclusive showing.

"Portrait of a Bearded Man" by Pablo Picasso, ca.1955
Pastel crayons on cardboard, 24 x 28 inches (framed)
Pablo Picasso, Spanish, (1881-1973) was the leader of the School of Paris and is generally considered in his technical virtuosity, versatility, originality and sheer volume of work as the foremost figure of 20th Century art.
Georges Braque , French, (1882-1963) joined other artists in developing Fauvism and later met Picasso. Together they explored form and structure and created Cubism. Later he veered away from the angularity of early cubism and developed a more graceful and curvilinear style seen especially in his still lifes.
