For those unfamiliar with the background, these rare gems were gathered and collected by an American symphony conductor while living and working in Europe from the mid 1940s through the late 1960s. A passionate collector, part of the Paris art circle, he was often asked to gather a few musicians to play for parties of dignitaries and celebrated artists such as Picasso, Miró, Braque, Matisse, and others.

The man made it known that he would gladly accept artwork from his hosts as payment in exchange for his musical services. In this way he built a stunning collection of original works, with each piece telling its own unique story and by now a “little piece of history.”
