Joan Miró, Spanish (1893-1983) is usually regarded as a surrealist painter in that his paintings are free-form expressions of the subconscious.

By 1930, however, he had developed his signature lyrical style using brilliant color and the playful juxtaposition of lines and abstract shapes.
